Biography

Pamela Denise Anderson born July 1, 1967 is a Canadian-born American actress, sex symbol, glamour model, producer, TV personality, and author. For a time, she was known as Pamela Anderson Lee after marrying the drummer for Mötley Crüe, Tommy Lee. Anderson is popularly known for modeling and television acting in the 1990s and for her large breast implants.

Anderson was born in Ladysmith, British Columbia, 90 km northwest of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, to Carol, a waitress, and Barry Anderson, a furnace repairman. Her great-grandfather, Juho Hyytiäinen, was Finnish, a native of Saarijärvi, and left Finland in 1908.The newborn Anderson won fame as the nation's "Centennial Baby", as she was thought, incorrectly, to have been the first baby born on Canada's Centennial Day (she was born at 4:08 in the morning). However, the Campbell River Upper Islander of July 5, 1967 reported a baby born two hours earlier on the same Canada Day.After her birth, her parents, Barry and Carol, and her brother, Gerry Anderson, moved to the town of Comox with Pamela.

After graduating from Highland Secondary School in 1985, Anderson moved to Vancouver and worked as a fitness instructor. During the summer of 1989, Pamela went with her friends to a Canadian football game; at some point during the game she was shown on the stadium screen wearing a Labatt's t-shirt, causing the crowd to cheer for the twenty one year old Anderson. She was taken down to the field to get an ovation from the crowd. Labatt's immediately offered Anderson a modeling contract and she accepted: soon she was on posters in every bar in Canada. In late 1989, Pamela decided to model for Playboy magazine: she appeared on the October 1989 cover (credited as Pamela Anderson Ilicic) and decided to move to Los Angeles to continue her modeling career. She was the February 1990 playmate and has appeared in Playboy several times in the 1990s and more recently.

laetitia casta

The Girl with the Golden Eyes

"I don't believe in God, but when I see Laetitia, I might change my mind." Fashion designer Vivienne Westwood

Fifteen-year-old Laetitia Casta was spotted while building sand castles on a beach in Corsica by a photographer and modeling agent from the Madison Models' Agency. After her father took her to Paris for some test photographs, Laetitia's amazing sheer beauty caught the attention of the founder of Madison models and her career started to take flight when the director of the French magazine Elle was also impressed by her look. Shortly after, modeling contracts and appearances in magazines knocked on her door.

Laetitia's debut advertising campaign arrived when founder and art director of Guess? Paul Marciano signed her up as the Guess? Girl.

Shot by Neil Kirk in Jamaica in October 1994, Laetitia soon gained worldwide fame and recognition.

1996 saw Laetitia as one of the Angels, the name attributed to the other four models of Victoria's Secret who grace covers of the Victoria's Secret catalog. The subsequent year, she appeared in the popular Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition, joining the rank of fellow models for three consecutive years before she posed nude for Rolling Stone's hot issue. To honor her, Rolling Stone named Laetitia Hottest Model of the Year. In addition to Rolling Stone, Laetitia also appeared on over 100 covers of such popular magazines as Cosmopolitan, Vogue and Glamour. Following in fellow model Kate Moss and actress Jennifer Anniston's footsteps, Laetitia became the spokesmodel for the cosmetics company L'Oreal in 1998.

Next came her work with the Pirelli calendar. Laetitia then posed for a controversial ad when she appeared nude for diamond e-tailer Diamond.com for its billboards and print advertisements. Laetitia was featured as a representative of the women of the 1950s in the 1999 issue, themed Women Through the Decades.

In 1999, Laetitia was highly praised by her native country when she was elected by the French mayors to be the representative of Marianne's image, the embodiment of the French Republic, by appearing on French stamps and coins for ten years.

Laetitia added acting to her endeavors in 1999 when she costarred with Gerard Depardieu and Oscar winner Roberto Benigni in her feature film debut Astérix et Obélix contre César (1999, portrayed Falbala), the most expensive French film ever made and a smash hit in Europe.

Her acting career gained momentum when she starred as Léa Delmas in the French television miniseries "Bicyclette bleue, La" (2000) and next played Lucía Junco, opposite Spanish dancer Joaquin Cortes, in Gitano (2000).

Already modeling and acting, Laetitia ventured into music when she appeared in the controversial video for Chris Isaak's "Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing."

Laetitia is credited with several other films including Âmes fortes, Les (2001), Rue des plaisirs (2002) and Rue des plaisirs (2002).
